Did You Miss Me?

did-you-miss-me

It feels strange coming back to this space again. I feel exactly like how a kid would feel on rejoining school after taking a year off. I am assuming the first day jitters, butterflies, anxiousness and nervousness are not unlike to what a kid would feel. All the new faces and the old ones who you hope would still remember you. I feel like I’ve missed out on a lot and there’s a lot of catching up to do. There’s a serious case of #FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) that I’m experiencing right now but that’s okay, I think it’s probably normal.

I really did miss this space and all you lovely friends out there. After I wrote the ‘Mini Hiatus’ post (The Mini Hiatus which turned out to be a Major Sabbatical), I completed my temporary freelance job by the end of December. I was already thinking (maybe thinking too much!) of coming back to this space but my mom who suffers from osteoporosis and spine issues was very unwell in January and we had to take her back to India in early February where I spent almost 5 months with her while she underwent physiotherapy and other medical treatment. When we returned back to Dubai at the end of June, I did plan to get back to blogging but I just couldn’t muster enough courage to get back to what I loved doing best – writing. I was already experiencing FOMO (this has become my favourite acronym now!) and I was just avoiding the urge to write.

But now I’m back and I just want to say I am so thankful for all the lovely comments I have received while I’ve been away. I am going to go through all of them and reply as soon as possible but thank you so much! It feels so nice to have friends who care and miss you. This blog and all the friends I’ve made through it is indeed a very special and sacred space. ❤

I hope to get back to writing more again. I also hope to make some changes to this writing space to give it a fresh, new feel ! Thank you once again and I love you all ! ❤ ❤

Mini Hiatus!

Hello friends!

I hope you all are doing well. I am sorry for being MIA for such a long time on this blog but my temporary work assignment has taken precedence at the moment. I am really sorry for not being able to reply to your lovely comments but I have definitely been reading all of your positive feedback on the previous posts and appreciate them from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much! 🙂

I also hoped to complete NaBloPoMo 2015 this November but sadly could not. My little series of 30 Notes to Self have been left incomplete but I will definitely get back to them very soon.

Just want to give a huge shout out to Karen Rees of the blog Confetti and Curves  for featuring me in her very successful and fun ‘Behind the Blog’ series where she interviews bloggers from the blogosphere. I had so much fun answering her questions!  Thank you so much Karen for spreading sunshine and cheer, I love your blog! 🙂

If you would like to be featured in her series, please get in touch with Karen via her contact page and she’ll send you all the details.

Meanwhile, take care bloggers and see you soon again in a couple of weeks!

Cheers,
Tx

Please share it with someone who needs a good ending to their weekend/ a great start to their week tomorrow! 😀

Have a great weekend/work week!

Cheers,
Tx

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The scariest stories are not what we read in fiction, but what happens to real people like you and me. Please support Domestic Violence Awareness Month and read this brave person’s personal recount. Help a victim get away safe. Share her story.

Fish Of Gold

Is is just a coincidence that Domestic Violence Awareness Month is the same month we celebrate monsters and nightmares in the form of Halloween? It’s no coincidence that I refer to my domestic abuser as a monster. I’ve had my share of horror in real life; I prefer it only on screen now.

It has been fifteen years since I limped into a police station and told the nice police officer exactly how he tried to kill me. That final night, I had two black eyes, a split lip, legs and arms scraped raw from when he pulled me out of the car by my hair over the broken window glass, bruised ribs, purple remainders of ten fingers on my neck, and more bruises than regular skin everywhere else. The police took pictures. I think I’m glad I don’t have copies.

I was sore absolutely everywhere. It was two…

T&W: Introducing Me!

Hello all ! I’ve recently collaborated with 6 other wonderful bookish people to be part of Alyssa’s bookish collab blog known as “The Bookish People”. My first introductory post went live today. Every day you will get to read different view points by my lovely peers on weekly themed topics. Watch out for our Reading Recommendations next week. This blog is definitely to look out for. If you’re interested to be a part of Alyssa’s amazing project from August onwards, please visit the blog to find out more. Happy Reading! 🙂

Hi! I’m Thistles and Whistles!

Many many years ago, on my never-ending search for different exotic recipes on this deep vortex called the internet, I stumbled upon many lovely food blogs. This was my first official entry as a blog reader and I was captivated by a whole community of bloggers (most of whom had never met each other!) who were actively sharing tips and recipes online and creating such captivating content from their personal experiences.

After reading many a food blog, I was inspired to start my own blog on Blogspot about 3 years ago. Ironically, since I don’t really cook all that much (but love hoarding recipes anyway!), I decided that the theme of my blog would be a general one. Unfortunately, due to a lack of dedication, this blog was abandoned after only a couple of posts. Later that year, when I started pursuing my Masters degree…

So Sorry!

Wow, its May and my last post was in August 2013!! I have been neglecting this blog completely! My time has been taken up maintaining my other Vegan and GlutenFree blog Desperately Vegan and I feel really bad about neglecting this one!

In about a month’s time, I shall have finished my Masters education and will be free to be more regular at posting things, getting into some sort of workable lifestyle routine for myself and hoping to complete all the goals which I set for myself last year around this time ! Yikes!!

I shall utter a word no more.

Cheers!
