T&W: Recommending Contemporary Books

A list of my favourite contemporaries has been posted on the blog The Bookish People. Head over there to read some other recommendations on various topics by my other lovely peers. 🙂

This week’s theme is Reading Recommendations and I’ve been given the topic “Favourite Contemporary Books” which I’m very happy to say is right up my alley. I love me some good contemporaries. I don’t usually tend to lean toward historical fiction although I do occassionally read some classics.  Although the list is by no means exhaustive, here’s a mix of some of my favourite contemporaries which I have enjoyed reading in the past and some quite recently:

  1. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
    Lincoln works the night shift in the IT department of a daily newspaper where his job is to read flagged down intra-office emails to check for offenders. Two office friends Beth and Jennifer share a lot of their personal lives over email and soon Lincoln falls in love with Beth even though he’s never met her. Trouble is, can he really pursue an honest relationship with her?
